Invasion of Cygnus Attack on Umbra

The discovery of vast quantities of tylium on a far-out planetoid attracts the attention of the Cylon Empire, resulting in an invasion and seizure of the vital military asset.

Brief[edit]

Sela's tylium mining business is modestly successful, yielding sufficient quantities of tylium to be reasonably profitable. The discovery of an untapped vein of tylium ore by Sela's prospector, Temon, between 7310 to 7314 changes that.

The Cylon Empire learns of the Colonials' discovery of this untapped, wealthy vein of tylium, a vital resource used by both parties during the long, "Thousand-Yahren War," and invade the minimally protected planetoid.

Any humans remaining on Cygnus are converted into a work-force to mine the tylium for the Cylons, and this continues until the Colonial military reclaims Cygnus approximately a decade later (Battlestar Galactica Annual 2014).

Aftermath[edit]

The Cylon Empire usurps the natural resources of Cygnus, leaving the Colonials reliant on tylium consortiums, like those operated by Baltar, to secure and establish alternate tylium supply lines (Battlestar Galactica Annual 2014).
