Tairac is characterized as an "ice planet" with "deadly frigid air" that poses a significant threat to human life.[1] The extreme cold conditions on the planet were severe enough that Boxey and other humans "briefly succumbed to deadly frigid air," requiring rescue operations to save their lives.[1] Both Apollo and Croft gained firsthand experience with solenite's volatility during their mission to the planet "many centons ago," knowledge that later proved useful in identifying solenite-based sabotage aboard Galactica.[2]

The mission's most notable incident involved Muffit II, the robotic daggit, who proved instrumental in rescue operations. Unlike the human personnel, Muffit was unaffected by the planet's extreme cold, being able to "scamper off and bring back rescuers" when the humans succumbed to the deadly environment.[1]
