Captain Butler is an United States Air Force officer assigned to Air Force Special Detachment One.

He accompanies Colonel Briggs on a plane ride to New York after the detection of an unknown object headed toward the Tri-State Area ^{(1980: "The Night the Cylons Landed, Part I")}.
