Gloria Alonzo is the teenage daughter of Louise and Hector Alonzo.

She lives on her family's troubled farm along with her younger brother, Chris. This farm is saved by Troy and Dillon, the latter of whom she has a crush on.

After Dillon wins the black horse Satan from their former owner John Steadman as a result of a wager, Dillon gifts the horse to Alonzo (1980: "Space Croppers").

In an earlier draft of this episode, entitled "Harvest Home," Gloria was named Kate Markham. In that draft, she is noted as being only sixteen, yet her father Ray Markham made it a point to note to Dillon that she was an able cook and that she would make a good wife. This point was later revised in the filmed version, likely owing to the limitations of the child-friendly time slot.
