She is the goddess of marriage.  Hera hated the great hero [[wikipedia:Hercules|Hercules]] because he was the son of her husband Zeus and a mortal woman. Hera set in motion the events which led to Hercules' [[wikipedia:The_Twelve_Labours|Twelve Labors]].
