G-4 is a Colonial plastic explosive using an A-type detonator fuse as an electric ignition source.
Explosives
edit
Sharon Valerii's Cylon persona planted five G-4 charges inside Galactica's water tanks, their detonation resulting in the loss of over 60% of the ship's water reserves (TRS: "Water").
On Galactica, G-4 explosives are located in small arms lockers, thus under the domain of the Master-at-Arms, who was Sergeant Hadrian at the time (TRS: "Litmus").
G-4 is also used by the human resistance movements on Caprica and New Caprica against Cylon occupations there (TRS: "Downloaded", "Occupation" and "The Plan").
Detonator
edit
A-type detonators are often, but not always, used as a fuse for G-4, and possibly other explosives. They can be time-delayed or manually triggered by a red button on top of the detonator.
Aboard Galactica A-type detonators are kept in cases. One such case, from which Valerii's Cylon persona purloined from the small arms locker during her sabotage efforts, features 12 A-type detonators with slots labeled A-1 through A-12 (TRS: "Water").
Notes
edit- G-4 is identical in function to the real-world Earth's C-4 explosive.
