Seraphs[1] are the names for the Beings of Light first discovered in "War of the Gods, Part II", originating from the Maximum Press series, and is later re-used in Dynamite Comics' Original Series comics.

Maximum Press

The Seraphs are responsible for providing Galactica and her Fleet a "warp system" that permits them to reach Earth.[1]

Additionally, the Serpahs have the ability to warp ships and time travel at will.[1]

Dynamite Comics

Decades later, the term is used for the Beings of Light in the Dynamite Comics saga, collected in Battlestar Galactica: Folly of the Gods.

The Seraphs, per Iblis's machinations, are drawn into the black hole and separate realm created by Iblis himself, using Baltar and Adama's Fleet as bait to play upon "their weakness" of compassion (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 3 #4). Using his force of Meclons, Iblis destroys the Ship of Lights; he is unaware that they know of his plan, and reveal themselves once Apollo and his father break Iblis' possession of Adama (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 3 #5).

The Seraphs use their power to save the marooned survivors from Iblis' planet, and to escape from their doomed ship, their number spread throughout the Fleet while escaping back into the known universe. By their efforts, they broker a firmer peace between the Cylons and the surviving humans (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 3 #5).
