The bio-robotics institutes of the Twelve Colonies were extremely advanced in the field of creating androids, according to Doctor Salik.
Doctor Wilker claims that such androids would be very difficult to distinguish from humans, but that there are ways of identifying them (TOS: "War of the Gods, Part I").
