A hectometer is a Colonial term for an altimeter, or similar device, which is a part of the Colonial Viper.

In "The Law of Volahd", Boomer tells Captain Apollo:

According to computron readouts, both Lomis and Colin's ships destructed at an altitude of .0359 on our hectometer ...

In reality, a hectometer is a unit of length, equaling 100 meters.
