Port wine finish
I'm pretty sure that's what he said, unless you hear differently. It also seems to match the description of the Quinta Ruban (Port Cask Extra Matured), mentioned on the Wikipedia article. --Steelviper 14:27, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, it's Glenmorangie Port Wood Finish. :) -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Battlestar Pegasus 14:34, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- I didn't even listen to the podcast yet (is ashamed), I just thought it made no sense at all and changed it to something phonetically close that did make sense (that's what I meant by "intuition" in my edit summary). I know I'm not supposed to do that, but it seemed like an obvious error to me and the podcast was in pre-verification stage. --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 16:43, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- I don't see that as a problem. Don't sweat it. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Battlestar Pegasus 16:50, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well you know, the BW:POD guideline state (and rightly so) that one should always listen to the podcast before offering "corrections", because RDM's sentences sometimes don't make that much sense. --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 16:54, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- Catrope nailed it. All we should do as transcribers is write what he says. However, when it comes to links, I feel like it's ok to link to what he means (if it's obvious from the context what he's actually talking about). --Steelviper 19:21, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- That's what we always do. I am wary of the dropped words like [this] in Podcast:The Ties That Bind. They're mostly unnecessary and not used in any of the other podcasts. --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 20:24, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

SSH
I did give you access to SSH so you could run the update php file right? Shane (talk) 21:09, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, BSGWiki SSH is working fine for me, it's Wikimedia. A bug was discovered in Debian's openssl package which caused the SSH key generator to generate too predictable keys (they're supposed to be random), so my RSA key to Wikimedia SVN was disabled. That's why I created a new one and that's also why I haven't put 1.13 online yet as I can't access SVN until my new key is processed.
- There's also a problem with the SVN program on the servers: it's not linked to neon (whatever that is), so it can't download anything through HTTP. That's not much of a problem right now, though, as I'll just update on my machine and upload, but it's something you should know if you ever decide to play around with SVN on the server. --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 21:13, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- We are using redhat, and yes.. I got SVN runing on here with no problems on svn.frakmedia.net :) Shane (talk) 03:24, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

- It turns out I don't have write access to the hb directory, it's all 755 bsgwiki/bsgwiki in there. Could you run

so the hb directory and everything inside it is writable by the bsgwiki group? --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 11:46, 14 May 2008 (UTC)- Will do. Shane (talk) 12:43, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Clear to Commit
You are clear to upgrade all wikis to 1.13, Saturday 31st anytime after 0500 hours. Wikis should be backed up by 0500. Shane (talk) 00:32, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- Good. However, I'll be on an island on Saturday. Is it OK if I do it on another day, like tomorrow (=Thursday), Friday or Monday? Also, 0500 in which timezone? --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 08:34, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- I rather run a MYSQL backup before we do anything. I will be back after noon my timezone EDT. I'll run a backup. In theory it can be done anytime. Saturday was the day the backup happens automaticly after the episode airs. But it shouldn't take the long for updating. Shane (talk) 10:13, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- Alright. Drop me a note when you've done the backup. Your noon is my 6PM, so I should be able to respond quickly unless you catch me during dinner. --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 10:29, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- Reason why we are doing a single auth database is so we can use it on all the FrakMedia wikis. :) Shane (talk) 10:33, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- Theoretically, you could (ab)use one of the existing databases for that. My update.php addition was reverted, BTW, because it tried to add the CentralAuth to all databases instead of just one. --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 10:50, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- Ok. I ran a backup of all the databases. I have created a database called "auth_wiki" same username. I will send you the password email. I am importing the SQL file into that database. I got it directly from the SVN. Anything else? Shane (talk) 11:30, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- BTW, update.php should drop the tables that are decrepited. It's made the EN database weird since it's been around forever and doesn't match up well with newer database looks. I don't want to manually do it since I have no idea what tables are still being used. :) Shane (talk) 16:28, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- You can see which tables are old here. update.php doesn't DROP them because wikis generally don't have DROP permissions. Thanks for the password, I'll get on it tomorrow. First I gotta watch Sine Qua Non with a couple of friends tonight :P --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 17:11, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- Then you should have --drop-table I'll give the database user drop permissions. :D Shane (talk) 18:34, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- Sine Qua Non was cool, but I'm kind of tired now (it's 11 PM), so I'm gonna go get some sleep. I'll probably do the upgrade tomorrow afternoon (morning in the US). Seeing as quite a few edits were made and probably will be made today, you probably wanna run another backup tonight (your 11PM-ish, that is). --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 21:20, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- I will run it right before I goto bed, which will be my 1am EDT. BTW -- Sleep is for the weak! :D Shane (talk) 22:07, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- Heading to bed. It's running so it should be done by the time you read this next. Shane (talk) 04:13, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

- Seems to only have one error: Special:MergeAccount. Is php missing something? Shane (talk) 11:52, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- Err, what the hell? You did the upgrade? I know I didn't do anything... Anyway, it says "no wiki for bsgwiki_de", maybe something's wrong with your CentralAuth configuration? --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 11:57, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah. LOL! I did it at 6:30am EDT. You can take a look @ the CentralAuth stuff. I done all I can do. :) Shane (talk) 11:59, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- I will. I have real-life stuff to do, though, so I can't guarantee I'll do it this afternoon (CEST), or even today. If not today, I'll definitely do it tomorrow, though. --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 12:06, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- rgr. I tried bring "URLBot" over to DE as a test, and it didn't work so I think that's where the error lies. Shane (talk) 12:07, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- It did work, just that you have to say "Keep logged in." The only other thing not working is SystemMessages and the Chinese Wiki is on the fritiz again. :P Shane (talk) 12:40, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- I noticed the Special:Allmessages error too, looks like a PHP error. Unfortunately, I don't have enough rights. I need write rights on /home/bsgwiki (owned by the bsgwiki group, which I'm a member of, so
chmod -R g+w /home/bsgwiki
should do it) and read access to /var/log/httpd to find out what's causing the blank page at Special:Allmessages. --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 16:49, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

- hah. ok. Log on with the bsgwiki_admin username & password. I found out when doing it has to use that one. So whatever. "auth_wiki" is still the DB name which will be bsgwiki_auth as soon as we clear this up. Shane (talk) 21:03, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- If you have a chance, log into the Forums and visit the IRC page (http://www.battlestarforum.com/irc.php). We can talk via that way. I am ^BuGs^ on IRC so we don't have to do this cross-talk page talk :) Shane (talk) 21:06, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

AntiSpoof Extension
I know you mentioned it earlier, but if you wanted to add the AntiSpoof extension, feel free to. I'm not sure where to apply the SQL patch on this one, now that we're running the CentralAuth extension. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Battlestar Pegasus 05:06, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
global_group_permissions and global_user_groups
I can't figure it out. So.. what I need entered is myself and Joe to have the same permissions as we have now on the EN wiki entered. Yourself added to the global Sysop and Stward List. Check this post out: http://www.battlestarforum.com/showpost.php?p=5683&postcount=8 You should have access to read it. :) For phpymyadmin you should be able to select loggin is as "bsgwiki_admin" in the upper right, but it's the default "server". CentralAuth and globalgroup-permissions
I got CentralAuth working, but GlobalGroupPermissions is a nightmare to set up... how do you get it working?? All help will be much appreciated. Thanks, AC --Sunstar NW XP 21:30, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
