Cylon Raiders loaded with solenite inflict damage upon Galactica during kamikaze runs, akin to the runs that decimated Atlantia (TOS: "Fire in Space").

Solenite is a highly-dangerous, high-yield non-nuclear substance used by both the Cylons and Colonials for explosives. solenite is effectual even in hand-held ordnance, namely the solenite charge.

Notable Use

edit source

The Colonials use the explosive to destroy the Ravashol pulsar in the form of an hand-held solenite charge, effectual against the most resistant of materials, notably magna (TOS: "The Gun on Ice Planet Zero, Part II").

Cylon Raiders loaded with solenite attempt to kamikaze into Galactica, causing major damage to the last battlestar. Apollo and Starbuck later attach solenite charges to Galactica's hull to inflict breaches at key points to vent the subsequent dangerous, uncontrolled blaze into space (TOS: "Fire in Space").

Tie-in Material Information

edit source
Solenite is a high explosive refined from Solium fuel. It has many peaceful uses in the construction industry and also forms the warheads of impact torpedoes used by both human and Cylon forces. [1]
  • In canon, solenite's derivation from solium is unstated. The non-canonical supplement Encyclopedia Galactica confirms the connection between solenite and solium, noting that solenite is a refined explosive derivative of solium fuel.
