The Harvester is the primary class of spacecraft built by the Okaati during the seventh-millennium. Harvesters of varying size are constructed to house the remnants of the Okaati civilization during their millennia-long exile within their own fugitive fleet. While christened as a nod to their agricultural roots, Harvesters serve as manufacturing, resource processing, and housing crafts for the Okaati people.
An exemplification of Okaati engineering acumen, Harvester crafts feature the ability to carry any cargo and convert it over to whatever they need, including the creation of new Harvesters. New Harvesters are built in space as their fleet travels the Empyrean Expanse (Battlestar Galactica Classic #1).
Harvesters are built for both hauling and speed, given the Okaati's parasitical nature and their need to avoid the Comitat's pursuit crafts. While armed, Harvesters use their adroit nature to avoid combat, and are able to both board via airlocks capable of connecting a wide variety of different space crafts and installations, as well as towing ships of great bulk at rapid speed via magnetic grapnels in concert with superior engine systems (Battlestar Galactica Classic #1-#5).
Notes
- While Galactica detected over 100 Harvesters upon their initial meeting, the number likely totaled over 200 as each was attached to one of the Fleet's civilian ships during their Okaati's heist.
