The Meta-cognitive Processor (MCP) is an advanced central processing unit developed by Tomas Vergis. It allows high-functioning artificial intelligence.
It was stolen through corporate espionage by the Ha'la'tha for Joseph Adama, who later gives it to Daniel Graystone and installed into his Cylon Prototype (Caprica pilot).
While the chip is capable of being installed into other U-87 units, it does not perform with high levels of intelligence or demonstrates adaptability outside of the original prototype, much to the chagrin of Graystone Industries technicians and scientists who do not realize that the key is the presence of Zoe Graystone's consciousness within the prototype robot (Rebirth).
Notes
- The acronym "MCP" is a blunt nod to the cult film Tron. "MCP" is an acronym for the Master Control Program, a rogue artificial intelligence (akin to Zoe-A, to an extent) who strived for world domination and was known for ending discussions with the phrase "End of line."
