Lunar Avion being escorted to Paradeen (TOS: "Greetings From Earth").

Lunar Avion is a Terran shuttlecraft that Sarah Fowler and Michael use in their escape from Lunar Seven, hoping to make it to Paradeen.

It is fitted with a form of suspended animation, artificial gravity, and sub-light engines, as well as rudimentary computers that can communicate (via voice) between themselves and automated receiving stations, such as those on Paradeen. The ship is primarily computer-controlled and capable of self-correcting navigation Basic life support

The shuttle is intercepted and towed in by Captain Apollo, causing division within the Fleet over how to handle the "Earthlings" aboard. It is later freed through less-than-clandestine actions of Apollo, Starbuck, and select Warriors loyal to Adama against Sire Geller's and the Quorum of Twelve's edicts, and escorted to Paradeen.

Commandant Leiter's destroyer tracks the craft, and changes course due to the detection of the Viper escort (TOS: "Greetings From Earth").

Notes

  • The model for the Lunar Avion looks remarkably like that of Ranger 3, Buck Rogers' space shuttle, from the 1979 Buck Rogers motion picture.

The Lunar colonies are settlements that were established by the Terrans. There were at least nine, and they were attacked by the Eastern Alliance in 7342, notably Lunar Seven (TOS: "Greetings From Earth") and Lunar One (TOS: "Experiment in Terra").

Lunar One is one of the Lunar colonies and is the site of a Terran Nationalist outpost that is destroyed by Eastern Alliance forces. Charlie Watts serves here during its fall, and is captured (TOS: "Experiment in Terra").

Lunar Seven is a Terran colony.

The atmospheric pressure on Lunar Seven is approximately one-fifth the standard pressure of the Twelve Colonies. The colonists selected for Lunar Seven were genetically altered to adapt them to the lower pressure.

Michael, Sarah Fowler, and their children escape from here in Lunar Avion after the colony is taken over by the Eastern Alliance (TOS: "Greetings From Earth").

Notes

  • "Lunar Seven" may also be spelled "Luna Seven" as shown on the readout of Adama's computer journal in the episode "Baltar's Escape". This may be to prevent it from being related to Earth's moon.
