A finite microlaser is a surgical instrument. Doctor Salik uses one during Adama's heart surgery. The corded device is dependent on continuous energy, and ceases to operate when Galactica's energizers fail. The laser can be run at varying degrees of power. For the surgery Dr. Salik orders the laser amplified to "operating mode" (TOS: "Fire in Space").
