Additional Information

Columbia is the name of a Colonial battlestar in the Re-imagined Series.

Columbia, featuring integrated command and control systems and Dr. Gaius Baltar's Command Navigation Program (CNP) is reported as lost, along with the Solaria and Triton.

Commander William Adama mentions the destruction of this battlestar in an update to his crew on the Cylon Attack (Miniseries). Later it is revealed that William Adama was an Executive Officer on Columbia once (Hero).

Notes

  • Columbia is perhaps the most unlikely name for a space vessel developed by a wholly "alien" culture, being a derivation of the 15th Century Genoan explorer Christopher Columbus - which pushes the bounds of coincidence to its breaking point. However, much like having the characters speak English, this may be a contrivance. The name may simply derive from the Latin word for "dove" or "pigeon" (columba).
  • In fan fiction, Columbia is considered the class name of the Original Series battlestars. This is not substatiated by any official sources. Battlestar Wiki does not support this or any other fan fiction.
