Ronald Selmour is a Haitian-born Canadian actor, voice actor, and narrator who portrayed Seaborne in the Re-imagined Series' "Bastille Day", and Shotgun in Caprica's "Ghosts in the Machine".

Early Life and Education

Selmour was born on April 20, 1961, in Haiti to Marguerite (S Joseph) and J P Decius Selmour, business owners.[external 1] He was raised in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, where he studied Anthropology, Fine Arts, and Theater.[external 2]

Selmour majored in Fine Arts at Concordia University while honing his acting craft in the theater program, performing on various stages in both English and French.[external 3] He is multilingual, speaking English, French, Creole, and passably Spanish.[external 4]

Career

Selmour is described as a "Renaissance man" who had his start in the Montreal theatre culture, establishing himself as an intricate character actor with leading man presence.[external 5] In addition to his acting work, he is also a voice actor who narrates in Creole, English, and French.[external 6]

Selmour has pursued interests beyond acting, including music—he toured Europe in the 1990s as a rapper—and visual arts, creating abstract and eclectic artwork that has been displayed in online virtual galleries.[external 7]

Selmour is best known for his role as Dex in Blade: Trinity (2004),[external 8] and for his memorable performance as "Death-by-teacup-man" in The Chronicles of Riddick (2004).[external 9]

His other notable film roles include Darryl in My Boss's Daughter (2003),[external 10] an Ark Boarding Officer in 2012 (2009),[external 11] Chattering Homeless Man in Tron: Legacy (2010),[external 12] Danforth in Sucker Punch (2011),[external 13] and Shotgun in Bones (2001).[external 14]

His early film work includes appearances in Freddy Got Fingered (2001) and Liberty Stands Still (2002) as Dwayne.[external 15]

Selmour has had an extensive television career spanning multiple decades. His notable roles include Agent Jim Sponson in the Netflix series The Imperfects (2022),[external 16] where he portrayed a ruthless agent for a shadowy organization tasked with hunting down the protagonists across seven episodes.[external 17]

He is particularly recognized for his recurring role as The Butcher in Arrow across four episodes from 2013 to 2014.[external 18] Other significant television work includes portraying Kanaan in Sanctuary across three episodes (2010-2011),[external 19] Sundown in the miniseries Klondike across four episodes (2014),[external 20] and Derrick in Bad Seeds across three episodes (2013).[external 21]
