Panou is a Canadian actor of Haitian heritage who portrays Olaf Willow in Caprica. His unique one-word birth-name translates to "God Among Us" in his native Creole.[external 1]

Biography

Panou was born in Haiti and was later adopted by Canadian parents.[external 2] He pursued his theatrical education at the University of Windsor, where he earned a degree in drama and classical percussion.[external 3]

Panou began his professional acting career with a role in the feature film Trail of a Serial Killer in 1997.[external 4] He has since appeared in numerous film and television productions, demonstrating versatility across multiple genres.

His film credits include portraying Black Panther co-founder Bobby Seale in Steal This Movie (2000),[external 5] appearing in the independent feature Fizzy Bizness (2002) directed by Carl Goldstein,[external 6] and roles in The Invisible (2007)[external 7] and the superhero film X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) as Tank Soldier.[external 8]

Television

Panou has extensive television credits spanning multiple science fiction and drama series. He portrayed Robert McNally in 42 episodes of the YTV/Fox Family Channel series I Was a Sixth Grade Alien from 1999 to 2000,[external 9] marking one of his most prominent recurring roles. He appeared in the Nickelodeon series Animorphs (1998–99) as the Controller,[external 10] and had a role in the CTV series The City (1999–2000).[external 11]

His science fiction television work includes multiple series in the Stargate franchise, with appearances in both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis.[external 12] Additional genre television roles include Sanctuary, Smallville, Supernatural, Flash Gordon, Earth: Final Conflict, La Femme Nikita, and F/X: The Series.[external 13]

He has appeared in numerous television movies and miniseries, including the Showtime productions Stanley Tookie Williams: A Question of Justice (2005), directed by Ernest Dickerson, Strange Justice (1999), and Rocky Marciano (1999).[external 14]

Voice Acting

Panou provided the voice of pilot Jake Justice in the pilot episode of the CBS animated series Rescue Heroes (1999–2000), which later aired on The WB as Rescue Heroes: Global Response Team (2001–2002).[external 15][external 16] The role in subsequent episodes was taken over by Martin Roach.

Stunt Work

In addition to his acting career, Panou has performed stunt work on several productions, including the HBO Max superhero series Peacemaker (2022),[external 17] the Syfy series Van Helsing (2017), and the action film The Big Hit (1998).[external 18]
