Sasha Roiz is the actor who portrays Sam Adama in the Caprica series. His legal birth name is Alexander, with "Sasha" being a diminutive commonly used in Slavic languages.[1]
Roiz has appeared in both television and film. His television credits include appearances on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, CSI: Miami, and Navy NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service. His film appearances include Assault on Precinct 13, 16 Blocks, and Land of the Dead.
For his role as Sam Adama, Roiz underwent a two-and-a-half-hour process to apply the character's extensive tattoos.[2] He was initially concerned that the storyline in "Here Be Dragons", which involved the death of his character's nephew, Willie Adama, would make Sam unlikable to the audience.[3] During a pivotal, emotional scene in that same episode, Roiz requested that some of his lines be cut, believing the powerful emotions of the moment were better conveyed through silence.[4]
