Crew Quarters

There are several different types of crew quarters located on Galactica. The two primary types are officer's quarters and duty lockers. In addition there are also visitor's quarters. Billy Keikeya is trying to find these while lost during the Miniseries.

Hangar Decks

Main article: Hangar deck
A service for the people who died during the first Cylon attack (Miniseries).

Normally used for spacecraft support, the hangar decks sometimes also double as an auditorium for large crew gatherings. Notable assemblies include:

  • A service following the Fleet's escape from Ragnar Anchorage (Miniseries)
  • A funeral service for pilots killed in an accident (Act of Contrition).
  • The re-uniting of the Galactica and Pegasus crews (Pegasus).
  • The ceremony recognizing William Adama's 45 years of service in the Colonial Fleet (Hero).

Moreover, a bar is constructed in an area of the starboard hangar deck (Taking a Break From All Your Worries), a part of the civilian refugee camp known as Camp Oil Slick,

Heads

One of Galactica's heads (Scar).

There are several restroom facilities on Galactica. Some are used as general purpose bathrooms with just sinks and toilets (Six Degrees of Separation) while others appear to be meant as crew lavatory facilities. These have showers, multi-basin sink facilities and lockers that are named with callsigns (Miniseries, "Scattered"). Every public head seen thus far appears to be unisex.

The captions in "Scattered" note a separate head for enlisted personnel. However, Dualla can often be seen in the same head as officers.

Observation Deck

Main article: Observation deck
Keikeya and Dualla on the observation deck (Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down).

Situated at the very front of the ship, this room allows crew and visitors the rare opportunity to look out a window into space. The room is often used by couples for courting. Because of the high demand for this room, officials on Galactica have had to impose time limits on each group that enters. In "Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down", Billy Keikeya and Anastasia Dualla share a moment in this room, during which Billy attempts to get information from Dualla regarding the Old Man. Vipers occasionally do fly-bys in front of this room.

Recreation Room

Pilots watching D'anna Biers's documentary (Final Cut).

A general-purpose room where officers can gather to socialize, relax, participate in games. The room has several tables and chairs. There are often triad games played here. The walls are decorated with lots of photos of pilots who served on Galactica, spacecraft and airplanes, insignia, decorations and other memorabilia. In the Miniseries it's the scene of a triad game that turns into a fistfight between Kara Thrace and Saul Tigh. Usually, it is just called "rec room" ("Act of Contrition", "Exodus, Part I").

Sickbay

Main article: Sickbay

The general medical care facility for all of Galactica and other Fleet ships when necessary. Dr. Cottle is the primary physician and is supported by several medics such as Layne Ishay and Howard Kim.

Wardroom

A formal meeting and multi-purpose room, this room has tables usually arranged in a U shape surrounding a podium placed at the front of the room. It has seating for 10 to 15 people. More formally decorated than most of the other rooms on Galactica, it contains the flags of the Twelve Colonies and is carpeted with a plush, blue carpet. It is the scene of the first "heart-to-heart chat" between William Adama and his son Lee.

Wardroom (A Day in the Life.)

Galactica's wardroom has also been used during:

Note: In standard naval parlance, the wardroom is the officers' mess, and is sometimes used metaphorically to refer to the officers of a ship's company.

Weight Room

Starbuck and Helo working out (Scar).

Galactica has a fairly standard weight room to maintain the crew's physical fitness.

In "The Hand of God", Kara Thrace spends time in the weight room rehabilitating her broken knee on a leg press machine. Commander Adama uses this machine to show to Thrace that her knee is not yet fully healed and that she is not ready for the upcoming combat operation. Leg strength is particularly important for Viper pilots; acceleration can dramatically magnify the force needed to press the pedals.

Starbuck pushes herself lifting weights to vent her frustration about Scar and Kat, while Helo spots her (Scar).

After Lee Adama gains a lot of weight while spending a year in orbit around New Caprica, he uses the weight room to get back into his old form (Torn).

The weight room also appears in "Final Cut" and "Black Market".

Firing Range

Main article: Firing range

Crew members can train their hand weapon proficiency on a firing range that is equipped with various weapons and targets.
