Oranu is the capital of the planet Gemenon (The Caprican: "Gemenon: The (Evil) Twin of Caprica," ^{(CAP: "Serge's Twitter")}).^[1]^[2]

Amanda Graystone compares the U-87 Cylon prototype to a movie monster that trampled the city ^{(CAP: "Rebirth")}. Caprica City resident Jane Contos also compared it to the same monster (The Caprican: "Suspicious Activity on Graystone Property").

According to The Caprican's Ralston Sinclair, "every building looks like a temple" (The Caprican: "Gemenon: The (Evil) Twin of Caprica").

It is home to the Gemenon Interplanetary Spaceport ^{(CAP: "Blowback")}.

Script Version Details

The pre-production script for Blood and Chrome describes Oranu as "the holy city" and provides an evocative architectural description of Gemenon's capital.^[3] The script characterizes the city's appearance as "Dubai meets ancient Rome," suggesting a grand urban landscape that combines futuristic architecture with classical religious monumentality. This description reinforces Oranu's status as both the political capital of Gemenon and the spiritual center of the Colonies' most religiously devoted world. The script's portrayal emphasizes how the city's architecture reflects Gemenon's role as the religious heart of Colonial civilization, with its impressive skyline serving as a visual representation of the planet's deep spiritual traditions.

Notes

The Quantum Mechanix product Battlestar Galactica Map Of The 12 Colonies also notes that the capital of Gemenon is Oranu. However due its "quasi-canon" nature,^[4] this is subject to future revision.
In the podcast commentary for "Blowback," Tom Lieber mistakenly identifies Oranu as the location of the Soldiers of the One training retreat.^[5] The retreat is actually located in the Gemenese mountains near the city of Armonia.
