Crew Quarters[edit]
There are several different types of crew quarters located on Galactica. The two primary types are officer's quarters and duty lockers. In addition there are also "visitor's quarters" located on Galactica. Billy Keikeya is trying to find these while lost during the Miniseries.
Heads[edit]
There are several restroom facilities on Galactica. Some are used as general purpose bathrooms with just sinks and toilets (Six Degrees of Separation) while others appear to be meant as crew lavatory facilities. These meant for crew appear to have showers and multi-basin sink facilities (Miniseries, "Scattered"). Every public head seen thus far appears to be unisex.
Recreation Room[edit]
A general-purpose room where officers can gather to socialize, relax, participate in games. The room has several tables and chairs. There are often triad games played here. In the Miniseries it's the scene of a triad game that turns into a fistfight between Kara Thrace and Saul Tigh. Also called "rec room" in short.[1]
Wardroom[edit]
A formal meeting room, this room has tables usually arranged in a U shape surrounding a podium placed at the front of the room. It has seating for 10 to 15 people. More formally decorated than most of the other rooms on Galactica, it contains the flags of the Twelve Colonies and is carpeted with a plush, blue carpet. It is the scene of the first "heart-to-heart chat" between William Adama and his son Lee.
In addition to the above mentioned uses, Galactica's wardroom has been used during:
- Commander Adama and President Roslin's discussion regarding the future of the human race (Miniseries)
- The water crisis on Galactica (Water)
- The tribunal proceedings to inquire about the Cylon threat and to seek out any conspirators on Galactica (Litmus)
- Negogiations with the Cylons about the algae planet (The Eye of Jupiter)
Notes[edit]
- In standard naval parlance, the wardroom is the officers' mess, and is sometimes used metaphorically to refer to the officers of a ship's company.
Weight Room[edit]
Galactica has a fairly standard weight room to maintain the crew's physical fitness.
In "The Hand of God", Kara Thrace spends time in the weight room rehabilitating her broken knee on a leg press machine. Commander Adama uses this machine to show to Thrace that her knee is not yet fully healed and that she is not ready for the upcoming combat operation. Leg strength is particularly important for Viper pilots; acceleration can dramatically magnify the force needed to press the pedals.
In "Scar", Starbuck pushes herself lifting weights to vent her frustration about Scar and Kat, while Helo spots her.
