Additional Information | |||
Battlestars are Colonial warships built in direct response to the generational war with the Cylon Empire.
At the conclusion of that conflict in an alternate reality, all battlestars constructed by the Colonials in this reality were destroyed either by or during the Battle of Cimtar.
Battlestars[edit]
Due to divergences between the primary and alternate reality that Apollo and Starbuck were flung into, the following are known battlestars that were named in Battlestar Galactica Volume 1: Memorial.
- Pegasus[1], destroyed by Baltar himself while his aide Apollo had been aboard (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #5).
- Rycon, Adama served aboard her, but was denied a promotion and thus left the military service. It is presumed destroyed either before or at the Battle of Cimtar (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #3).
- Unnamed battlestar[2] commanded by Tigh, which is also destroyed with all hands, save President Adama's (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #3).
Galactica[edit]
Galactica was never commissioned in the alternate reality (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #3), as the divergent alternate reality's creation sprung from an overloaded temporal battery, thus removing Galactica from all existence in a temporal storm that only Apollo and Starbuck witness (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #1).
However, Galactica from the primary reality was transported—sans crew—into the alternate reality, becoming an incongruous element. It is discovered by pirates lead by the privateer Starbuck, who claim it as their own. Aboard her, Starbuck's crew of scientists and technicians acquire Cylon components, including an Imperious Leader, devising a variety of anti-Cylon technologies.
Such discoveries include the defensive sensor shield, rendering Galactica invisible to Cylon scanning technologies (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #4).
Galactica becomes the last known battlestar that Baltifer hunts for and nearly succeeds in finding, resulting in the Battle of Cache. After the temporally displaced Starbuck influences his alternate, Galactica becomes the lynchpin that allows not only the Colonial Resistance to seize its first decisive victory, but to repair history by saving itself from the Nebula Ambush (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #5).
References[edit]
- ↑ The presence of Pegasus and Apollo's journey aboard her suggest that the Battle of Molecay either did not occur or had a differing result.
- ↑ While one may assume that this is Atlantia, given that this was President Adar's vessel in the primary timeline, this is neither confirmed nor denied in the issue. Battlestar Wiki thus errs on the side of caution, and does not presume to give name to the battlestar itself.
