Prometheus is a Galactica type battlestar in service with the Colonial Fleet during the First Cylon War. Named after the Lord of Kobol Prometheus, the ship serves as one of the primary Colonial Fleet vessels during the conflict (TRS: "Blood and Chrome").
Service History
edit sourcePrometheus is one of the original twelve battlestars created during the Cylon War, serving alongside its sister ships Galactica and Columbia as a cornerstone of Colonial defense against Cylon forces. During the war, Prometheus participates in major combat operations against the Cylons, with Colonial propaganda highlighting the effectiveness of these three battlestars in prosecuting the war effort.
Notes
edit sourceThe pre-production script for Blood and Chrome identifies Prometheus as one of Galactica's sister ships actively engaged in the Cylon War.[1] The script describes these battlestars in a wartime newsreel, noting that Galactica "along with its sister ships, Columbia and Prometheus, is showing the Cylon no quarter."
Notes
edit source- Prometheus is named after the Lord of Kobol who stole fire from the gods and gave it to humanity, making it a fitting name for a warship defending human civilization against their robotic creations.
- As a Galactica type battlestar, Prometheus would have shared the same basic design and capabilities as its famous sister ship, including non-networked computer systems that provided protection against Cylon computer viruses.
- The ultimate fate of Prometheus during or after the Cylon War remains unknown, as the ship is only mentioned in the context of active wartime service.
