As part of battlestar Galactica's decommisioning, a museum was installed in the starboard flight pod. Massive windows were installed in the openings on each end of the pod. The museum contained a number of vehicles and displays relating to the Cylon War including a Viper Mk. I, an old "flying wing" Raider, a Landram, a shuttle, a Cylon Centurion Model 0005, and a 40-ship squadron of Viper Mk. II fighters.
In the process of the starboard flight pod's conversion into the museum, its launch tubes and launching console were converted into a gift shop, rendering it unusable for flights (Miniseries).
The decommisioning ceremony and a ceremonial flyby by Galactica's last remaining operational Viper squadron are held here just prior to the Cylon attack on the Twelve Colonies (Miniseries).
Galactica has returned much of the items of the museum to active use in their exodus from the Colonies. The first items salvaged were the Viper Mark II squadrons to defend the battlestar in their first Cylon sortie during the Fall of the Twelve Colonies, since Galactica had no ordnance for her guns at the time and with very few Mark VII Vipers available (her last squadron departed for Caprica and were subsequently destroyed).
The remains of the museum are heavily damaged when a Cylon Heavy Raider rams into it and depressurizes the area (Scattered). No information has been given on Galactica's crew returning the starboard flight pod to operational status in any of the aired episodes as the end of season 2.
Note
The replicas of the Original Series basestar, Viper, landram, shuttle, and Centurion are believed to be primarily homages to the Original Series. A piece of artwork in Commander Adama's quarters show a stylized battle in the Cylon War where Original Series-style Cylons are seen.
Because the Original Series and Re-imagined Series use highly different types of weapons and procedures, readers should not assume that these Original Series-style replicas in the museum infer that their Cylon War counterparts used the same Original Series technology.
