A conflict started as a result of draconian command decisions by Admiral Helena Cain and military response by Commander William Adama to determine the freedom of Chief Galen Tyrol and Lieutenant Karl Agathon. It spans the last act of "Pegasus" and the beginning act of "Resurrection Ship, Part I".

This, under Colonial rules-of-engagement, would allow return fire. Given that Pegasus has only advanced Viper Mk. Great Cylon Turkey Shoot Standoff Between Galactica and Pegasus Battle of the Resurrection Ship

The standoff between Galactica and Pegasus is a confrontation between the commanders of the two battlestars as a result of questionable command decisions by Admiral Helena Cain (TRS: "Pegasus", "Resurrection Ship, Part I").

Colonel Tigh informs Commander Adama that Admiral Cain has ordered the summary execution of Chief Tyrol and Lieutenant Agathon over the death of Pegasus Lieutenant Thorne. On this news, feeling deceived that a genuine court martial would occur for his crewmen, Adama orders a Raptor with Viper escorts to board Pegasus to retrieve the men.

When Adama informs Cain of his intentions, Cain launches Peagsus's full Viper Mark VII forces and orders Condition One. Galactica follows suit, launching her Vipers, led by Louanne "Kat" Katraine and Hotdog (TRS: "Pegasus").

Each side attempts to goad the other into opening fire, and Kat repeatedly requests permission for "weapons free" on the incoming Vipers. Under Colonial rules-of-engagement, any force that is fired upon can return fire.

The fracas is interrupted by Starbuck piloting the Blackbird. After Captain Lee Adama text messages Starbuck over wireless aboard a Pegasus Raptor, her ship only showing up on DRADIS due to her reply transmission being detected. Both battlestars and their respective Viper squadrons read the Blackbird as a Cylon (the Blackbird is either not equipped with a Colonial transponder or had disabled it for the unauthorized recon mission). The two opposing groups join forces to engage the "real" enemy, but Starbuck succeeds in confirming her identity before the Vipers fire upon the Blackbird.

A truce ensues after Cain receives recon photos of the Cylon Resurrection Ship. Both commanders agree to bring their ships to Condition Two and meet on Colonial One to determine a course of action (TRS: "Resurrection Ship, Part II").
