The various character bio pages need to be given a unified format. A proposal follows. Feel free to discuss it on the talk page.
Naming Conventions[edit]
All character bio pages should be named in the format "First Last", without middle names, initials or callsigns. Redirects should be made from all possible forms. Thus, the article for "Helo" will be at "Karl Agathon" with the following redirects:
- Helo
- Karl C. Agathon
- Agathon, Karl
- Agathon, Karl C.
Where no name is available, a callsign is acceptable (e.g. Crashdown) or a brief statement of occupation (e.g. Armistice Officer).
Where necessary, disambiguate with the following (in order of preference):
- Middle name or initial
- Callsign, for example "Jolly" Anders vs. Samuel Anders
- A role or profession in parenthesis, lower case, for example Mueller (pilot) vs. Mueller (president); Stinger (galactica) vs. Stinger (pegasus).
- Series, for example Adar (TOS) vs. Adar (RDM); Boxey (TOS) vs. Boxey (RDM).

Name-link Cleanup[edit]
This is a list of bad/old name-links that have already been cleaned up. Once this gets long enough, it should probably be swtiched to ones that need cleaning. This is mostly about switching from the "Last, First" format to "First Last". DO NOT LINK THE NAMES in this list, as it creates one more place that uses an old/bad link.

Templates[edit]
Use the Template:Character Data template where possible, along with a photograph. Size photographs to 200px horziontal in template, e.g.
{{Character Data| |photo=
If there isn't sufficient information to fill at least a few fields of the character template, just take note of the remaining details in the text and use a thumbnail image. This is largely a judgement call.
Links to IMDB listings are preferred to stubs on actors in minor parts.
List of Characters not using the Template[edit]

List of Characters wanting pictures[edit]
How to read this list: Names struck through indicate a verification that all the pictures listed have been added to their article. Under the name, place which pictures you think would be good to add and, if you can, mention the episode it would best come from. Picture descriptions struck through mean they've been created, but not neccesarily uploaded or added. Articles on this list don't have to need pictures; inclusion for simple beautification is fine.
- Cally
Maybe a close-up where she doesn't look so deathly serious.--Day 23:22, 1 September 2005 (EDT)- Something to do with her having shot Boomer in Resistance.
- Flyboy
A close-up from Scattered. --Day 18:59, 1 September 2005 (EDT)- He appears out of his flight helmet in Valley of Darkness. This would make a better image.
- Jammer
- Layne
- Mason
A close-up from Bastille Day. --Day 03:45, 2 September 2005 (EDT)- There's something wrong with this file. Could I get it deleted so I can try a fresh upload? For reference after deletion, the text reads: Mason regarding Cally menacingly in Bastille Day. (Credit: SciFi Channel) --Day 02:14, 7 September 2005 (EDT)
Meier--Day 16:50, 23 September 2005 (EDT)A close-up from Home, Part I. --Day 16:50, 23 September 2005 (EDT)
Number Six--Day 18:28, 23 September 2005 (EDT)Gaius' personal copy. --Day 18:28, 23 September 2005 (EDT)

- A large close-up from almost any number of episodes.

- A close-up from Resistance or The Farm.

Being the CAG with Boxey in Bastille Day. --Day 03:45, 2 September 2005 (EDT)- Either: With the Arrow of Apollo OR saying bye to Anders in The Farm.
- Ellen Tigh
- Just a tighter close-up.
- Saul Tigh
Categories[edit]
To get character names to show up in the order Last, First on category pages (which is the desirable sorting order) use a pipelink after the category tag as follows:

Additionally, all Character pages should, of course, include the categories "A to Z" and "Characters". See below for list of applicable categories.
List of Applicable Categories[edit]
Applicable for All Character Pages[edit]
Applicable for TOS Character Pages[edit]
Applicable for RDM Character Pages[edit]
Layout[edit]
All Character articles should include a short introductary paragraph describing the character. General personality description should go here and mirroring information from the Character Data Template is okay.
For articles with more than just this introductary information, this paragraph should be imediately followed by the first heading: Biography. This section can be devided up into smaller headings by chronology as applicable.
For articles on Humano-Cylons, use top-level divisions to note distinct copies/versions/instances. Use proper names where available (as in the Number Six article), or a short description where not (as in Aaron Doral). Where necessary, notes, analysis, etc. can be provided on a per-copy basis under subheadings as in regular character pages, and for the model as a whole in first-level headings beneath the sections on particular copies.
