Real-world Earth statue of Athena

Athena is one of the Lords of Kobol worshipped by modern-day Colonials as of 42YR (58 BCH).

Athena died long ago, throwing herself from the Gates of Hera in despair over the exodus of the thirteen tribes (TRS: "Home, Part II"). Her tomb lies on Kobol some distance from the City of the Gods (TRS: "Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I").

When Sharon "Athena" Agathon is given a callsign by her fellow pilots to differentiate her from her predecessor, Sharon "Boomer" Valerii, the name settled on is Athena in honor of the Lord of Kobol (TRS: "Torn").

The Athena Academy on Caprica was an educational institute dedicated to her (Caprica). When it comes to enemies, followers of Athena believe in the credo "love thy enemy" (CAP: "Pilot").
