The Colonial Marine Corps are a miltary branch of the Colonial Defense Force. Its members are the ship-based soldiers of the Colonial Fleet. Battlestar Galactica has about thirty of them left, although there are no snipers among them (Bastille Day).

A Marine's duties include guarding the CIC and brig (Mini-Series) and assisting the Master-at-Arms (Litmus). They have been used several times on Raptors for boarding parties (Bastille Day, Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II, Resistance, Pegasus). They are also responsible for repelling enemy boarding actions (Valley of Darkness).

Sergeant Hadrian is a Marine, but no officers (if there were any) appear to be stationed on Galactica; when they are shown on missions, Fleet officers command the Marine units.

Known Marines[edit]

Notes[edit]

Their battle uniforms appear to be based on those of the U.S. Army's Delta Force or the counter-terrorist branch of the British Army's Special Air Service Regiment. Besides their black combat uniforms, the weapons and personal combat equipment of the Marines are similar to what police SWAT teams and anti-terrorist special forces units utilize. We are yet to see the Marines in camouflage combat uniforms and armed with standard infantry weapons.

To depict/outfit the Marines, Wardrobe is using the following real-world items:

  • Giro Bad Lieutenant snowboard/ski helmet, black
  • goggles (checking/researching exact model)
  • Heckler-Koch MP5 (multiple variants), (more guns as formally identified)
  • web gear (checking/researching exact model)
