Arnold Wayne Heffley Jr. (15 July 1927―19 November 2008), credited as Wayne Heffley, is an American actor who portrayed Packer, the Stanford Chemical Plant guard, in Galactica 1980's "The Super Scouts, Part I". His performance in that episode was uncredited, but he was identified through computer-aided facial recognition.

Born in Bakersfield, California, U.S.A., Heffley is best known as Vern Scofield from the daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives, a recurring role he held between 1988 through 2006.

Heffley's other credits, numbering in the hundreds, include numerous productions spanning from the 1950s through the 2000s, notably guest starring roles in The Twilight Zone, Bonanza (with Lorne Greene), The Streets of San Francisco, Kojak, Hill Street Blues, and Airwolf.

He passed away from kidney failure on 19 November 2008.[1]

Wayne Charles Morton (born January 5, 1945) is an American actor, voice actor, and comedian who portrayed an uncredited Camp Aide in the Galactica 1980 episode "Spaceball," as identified through computer-aided facial recognition.

Early Career and Television Work

Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Morton attended Mary D. Bradford High School in Kenosha before studying Theatre Arts and Music at Ripon College, graduating in 1967.[external 1] Following his graduation from Ripon College, Morton made his screen debut on television's Medical Center in 1970.[commentary 1]

Morton subsequently embarked on a career in television and voice acting that has spanned over forty years.[commentary 2] His television appearances have included M*A*S*H, The Dukes of Hazzard, Mork and Mindy, Happy Days, Private Benjamin, and Newhart.[commentary 3]

According to IMDb, Morton's television credits include appearances on The Twilight Zone (1985), T.J. Hooker (1982), Whiz Kids (1983-1984), AfterMASH (1984), Mama's Family (1986-1987), and New Monkees (1987).[external 2] More recent work includes appearances in Thin Ice (2011), In an Instant (2015), and the television movie The Neapolitan (2018).[external 3]

Morton is best known for his role on Mork & Mindy, where he appeared as Dr. Roland in the Season 2 episode "Mork's Health Hints."[external 4] He also appeared in the 2005 film Factotum.[external 5]

Voice Acting

Morton has had a substantial career as a voice actor in animation. He is particularly known for voicing Ben Grimm / The Thing in both Fred and Barney Meet the Thing (1979) and the standalone The Thing animated television series (1979).[external 6]

His voice work also includes Pontoffel Pock and His Magic Piano (1980), where he voiced the title character Pontoffel Pock,[external 7] and The Flintstones: Jogging Fever (1981), where he provided additional voices.[external 8]

Morton served as a spokesman for Meineke muffler shops in television commercials.[commentary 4]

Theatre Career

In addition to his screen work, Morton has maintained a thriving theatre career throughout his professional life. He has appeared in various musicals on Broadway, in Las Vegas, and in Naples, Florida.[commentary 5] Morton worked extensively with legendary comedian Jack Benny and other notable entertainment figures.[commentary 6]

Morton has been an actor at Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota, Florida, and also performs regularly with TheatreZone in Naples, Florida.[external 9] His documented stage credits include Clem Rogers in The Will Rogers Follies at The Will Rogers Theater in Branson, Missouri (April 1994), and Maurice in Disney's Beauty and the Beast at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul, Minnesota (December 15, 2009 – January 3, 2010).[production 1]

His work with TheatreZone at the G&L Theatre in Naples has included Jimmy Smith in No, No, Nanette (January 6–16, 2011), H.C. Curry in 110 in the Shade (May 2–12, 2013), a performer in the 10th Anniversary Concert (February 20–21, 2015), Dick Woolnough and Dee Anthony in The Boy From Oz (February 4–14, 2016), Arnold Rothstein in Legs Diamond (April 27 – May 3, 2017), and Conrad in On a Clear Day You Can See Forever (March 7–17, 2019).[production 2]

Morton originated the role of Arvide Abernathy in the Asolo Repertory Theatre production of Guys and Dolls at the Historic Asolo Theatre in Sarasota, Florida, which opened on November 18, 2016. The production later transferred to The Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, California, where it ran at the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage through August 13, 2017.[production 3] He has also performed the role of Alfred P. Doolittle in My Fair Lady at Chanhassen Dinner Theatres.[external 10]

Morton has been married to Susan Morton since November 15, 1980.[external 11] As of 2019, he lives in North Fort Myers, Florida.[commentary 7]
