Derek Delost is the actor who portrays Vireem in the Re-imagined Series, appearing in four episodes across Seasons 2 and 4: "Pegasus", "Resurrection Ship, Part II", "The Oath", and "Blood on the Scales".

Career

Delost worked professionally in film, theatre, and television from 1999 to 2010, based variously in Vancouver, New York, Toronto, and Los Angeles. During that period he worked as a producer, writer, assistant director, executive assistant, and actor across a range of theatre, film, and television productions. In New York, he produced a theatre talent showcase that raised over $8,000, and wrote, produced, and acted in a collaborative stage production presented at The Public Theatre. He also had a screenplay optioned by a production company in Los Angeles.

Early production credits include serving as personal assistant to director James Keach on two consecutive Keach projects: the Showtime television film Enslavement: The True Story of Fanny Kemble (2000), in which Jane Seymour starred as the 19th-century British actress and abolitionist Fanny Kemble, and the Leslie Nielsen action-comedy Camouflage (2001), also directed by Keach. He subsequently worked as an on-set production assistant on the Working Title romantic comedy 40 Days and 40 Nights (2002), filmed in Vancouver.

He produced Sylvia (2000), a 35mm short film directed by Trevin Matcek, which won the Gold Award for Best Student Short at the WorldFest Houston International Film Festival and screened at over a dozen international festivals before airing on Showtime.

His other acting credits include the role of Soda Thug #1 — billed as Derek DeLost — in the Vancouver-shot independent drama Sweet Amerika (2008), and the lead role of Hoodie in the Canadian short film Replay (2009).

Following the conclusion of his film and television career around 2010, Delost transitioned into digital marketing, building a career in Vancouver that has included senior roles at a number of agencies and technology companies. Since 2023 he has operated Delost Media Group, a marketing consultancy, and in October 2023 he became CEO of DotYeti Design, a subscription-based graphic design agency he acquired.
