Specialist Cally is a deckhand aboard Battlestar Galactica assigned to Chief Galen Tyrol. At the time of the Cylon Attack on the Colonies, she was attached to Deck Crew 5, and was responsible for Viper and Raptor maintenance (Mini-Series). She is particularly adept at finding ways around the lack of replacement parts aboard Galactica, seen in her jury-rigging of several Vipers and Raptors. Cally only joined the Colonial Fleet as a means to pay for dental school (Fragged).

Biographical Notes

Cally was part of the Galactica team sent to the Astral Queen in order to enlist the help of convicts in ice mining operations. (Bastille Day) Taken captive by the revolting crew, she was nearly raped by prisoner Mason, who shot her after she bit his ear off in defense. After being retrived from the Queen, she was sent to sickbay where she was given the nickname "Specialist Lazy".

Eventually, Cally returned to duty aboard the Galactica where she was selected to join a Raptor Scout team bound for Kobol. (Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I) Her Raptor was attacked upon emerging from an FTL jump, resulting in a crash on Kobol. As one of the few that was relatively unhurt, she was charged with caring for the injured crewmen. Cally later had to go back to the crash site with Chief Tyrol and Tarn, and barely made it back alive with a medkit for Socinus. (Scattered) However, it was too late to save him. Cally was greatly saddened when Socinus died (Valley of Darkness).

Cally seems as prone to anger after a terrible event as Chief Tyrol, but unlike him, she tends to take direct action as a result, rather than becoming immobile or overly irrational.

While stranded, Lt. Crashdown attempted to lead a hopeless attack on a superior Cylon anti-aircraft emplacement, and gave Cally the assuredly suicidal order to draw off the Centurion's fire. Cally was so terrified at carrying out the impossible order that she froze in place instead of advancing. Crashdown pointed a gun to her head, completely losing control and threatening to shoot her if she did not obey. Just before Crashdown was going to shoot Cally, Dr. Baltar shot him. The group then fought a running battle with the Centurions to reach and destroy the Dradis dish supporting the Cylon gun emplacements. Selix was shot, but Cally saved her life by carrying her further ahead. A rescue team of Raptors then arrived, and Cally returned to Galactica with the survivors, who said that Crashdown had died charging the Cylons (Fragged).

Cally's anger transferred to Baltar when Tyrol was arrested, and threatened to reveal Baltar's part in Crashdown's death if Baltar did not act to clear Tyrol's name. Cally later shot and killed the Galactica copy of Sharon Valerii, because she was outraged that Chief Tyrol had been thrown in the brig and was wrongly suspected of being a Cylon because of her (Resistance). Cally was then imprisoned in the brig. At Tyrol's request, Commander Adama gave her a lenient sentence of 30 days for "discharging a firearm without permission" ("The Farm"). (Apparently, the Galactica crew did not consider killing a Cylon as murder.)

After her 30 day sentence was finished, Cally was released from the brig, and a welcome back party was thrown for her on the hanger deck by the deck crew. Chief Tyrol was still upset with her for killing Galactica-Boomer, though Cally was greatful to the Chief for putting in a good word for her with Adama. She aided Tyrol in the construction of the Blackbird, and by the time they had finished he had reconciled with her ("Flight of the Phoenix").
