Kerry Norton is a British actress and singer who portrayed medic Layne Ishay in four episodes of Season 2 of the Re-imagined Series.

Norton's first Battlestar Galactica appearance as Ishay was in Scattered (and then two subsequent episodes) where her character was memorable for having operated on Cmdr. William Adama's chest after he was shot at close range by the Cylon "Boomer" Valerii. She was seen in the episode Downloaded later that season where Ishay assisted Doctor Cottle in the delivery of the half-human baby of another iteration of the same Cylon model.

In season three she was seen in the episode Taking a Break From All Your Worries assisting Doctor Cottle during the interrogation of Gaius Baltar in sickbay while under the influence of an hallucinogenic drug which Admiral William Adama informs Laura Roslin they can use to try and get further information out of Baltar. Admiral Adama had knowledge of the past use of it by the military in interrogation processes. During the interrogation, Layne Ishay stumbles backwards and knocks over a metal tray with various medical implements and tools on it, causing a loud, jarring crash, which causes the "tripping" Baltar to panic. Admiral Adama warned against making loud noises at the start of the interrogation process, which the viewer takes to imply that to do so would cause trouble in the process.

Norton is also the real-life wife of actor Jamie Bamber who plays Lee "Apollo" Adama. The two have three daughters: Isla Elizabeth Angela Griffith, born in 2003, and twins Darcy and Ava, born in 2004. [1]

Though Jamie Bamber covers up his British accent on the show, Norton does not hide her accent.
