The Citizens for Sagittaron Labor Reform is an independent labor union and activist group Karen Zarek creates in response to the various plights of the workers on Sagittaron.

The goal of this group is to improve economical and health benefits to workers, as workers both prior to and well into the First Cylon War were marginalized and exploited by the Sagittaron Labor Ministry.

Spurred by Jerome Zarek's death at the hands of Colonial Marines after his burglary attempt in Sagittaron City's pharmacy, and doubtless partially financed by her husbands life insurance payout, she organized the effort. Beginning life as a grassroots effort, the union blossomed into a planet-wide within the span of a few years, backed by many of the underprivileged workers throughout the colony.

Despite swelling public support, both the Sagittaron government and the Labor Ministry fought the union on nearly every issue.

After Karen Zarek is killed by a hitman (Battlestar Galactica: Zarek 1) named Nixon Kinlow, who is hired by the Labor Ministry (Battlestar Galactica: Zarek 3), Zarek's son, Tom, continues in his mother's footsteps. Tom Zarek continues to encounter oppressive resistance from the local government, resulting his disbandment of the labor union, and the creation of the Sagittaron Freedom Movement, a terrorist organization bent on bringing change through violent revolution (Battlestar Galactica: Zarek 2, Battlestar Galactica: Zarek 3).
