The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is a civilian law enforcement organization responsible for enforcement of laws and civilian criminal investigation in both the city and county of Los Angeles, California, United States of America circa 1980 CE.

Officers from this agency apprehend Troy and Dillon following their alleged break in at Dr. Donald Mortinson's lab. Troy and Dillon are briefly incarcerated before using their personal invisibility fields to escape the holding tank, much to the consternation of Sergeant James and to the bemusement of Officer Dorbin (1980: "Galactica Discovers Earth, Part I").

Upon fleeing the Nazi Germany of the 1930s, Xaviar convinces two LAPD beat officers to drive him to the UBC building in order to meet with Mortinson (1980: "Galactica Discovers Earth, Part II").
