Toby Levins is an Australian actor who portrayed Pilot "Sandman" in Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome. Born on June 10, 1981, in Adelaide, Australia,[external 1] he is an actor, director, and stuntman known for his extensive work in film and television.[external 2]

Career

Levins began his acting career in 2004 with his debut role as Roy in the television series Fireflies.[external 3] Following this initial appearance, he continued building his resume with a guest role in Fringe as a Bomb Tech.[external 4]

His early television work included notable roles in the Australian soap opera Home and Away, where he played three different characters: Brett Collins, Rusty Bowman, and Rusty Bolton.[external 5] This experience in varied character work demonstrated his versatility as a performer early in his career.

Levins established himself in the North American entertainment industry with roles in major feature films including Godzilla (2014), The Age of Adaline (2015), and Rogue (2013).[external 6] His career encompasses both acting and stunt work, reflecting his physical performance capabilities.[external 7]

Television Work

Levins gained significant recognition for his recurring role as Lieutenant Carl Emerson in The 100 from 2015 to 2016.[external 8] His character first appeared in season 2, episode 9 "Remember Me" and continued through multiple episodes across seasons 2 and 3.[external 9]

More recently, Levins has appeared in major streaming productions including The Night Agent (2023), where he portrayed Nathan Briggs, a rogue Secret Service agent,[external 10] and the Netflix limited series Maid (2021), in which he played Basil Desmond.[external 11] He has also appeared in HBO's acclaimed series The Last of Us (2023).[external 12]

Directing Career

In 2023, Levins expanded his creative role by making his directorial debut with the short film Echoes. In addition to directing, he served as producer and writer for the project, which also features him in the cast alongside Lucie Guest, John Cassini, and Nicola Coulter.[external 13]

Personal Life

Levins currently splits his time between Los Angeles, California, and Vancouver, British Columbia, where much of the North American film and television industry's production takes place.[external 14] He has been working professionally in the entertainment industry for over two decades since his 2004 debut.[external 15]

Beyond his on-screen work, Levins has experience as a script reader, having worked with Clark and Page, one of Canada's prominent casting offices, for five years.[external 16] This background in the casting process has given him additional insight into the industry from both sides of the audition process.
