Susan Hamilton is an officer in the Caprican Armed Forces.
As an ensign, Hamilton served aboard the Caprican military vessel Zephyrus during the Caprica-Sagittaron Conflict. In an explosion during the opening minutes of the disastrous Battle of Abraxus, Hamilton's left arm is mutilated, resulting in the need for a robotic prosthesis (Battlestar Galactica: Cylon War #1).
Following Abraxus, Hamilton is promoted to lieutenant and continues to serve under Commander Benjamin Tanner. She serves as Tanner's executive officer, following him to his own command of Caprica's newest destroyer-class ship, Eos, where she also serves with Saul Tigh (Battlestar Galactica: Cylon War #2).
In the following Battle at Sagittaron Bellarias, Isak activates his plan resulting in the First Cylon War. As her prosthesis is robotic, it is compromised by Isak's viral program and strangles her. Tanner's timely intervention prevents this, and she is dragged behind a bridge console while Caprican marines repel the robots that have turned against them (Battlestar Galactica: Cylon War #3).
In the last years of the First Cylon War, Hamilton assumes command of battlestar Mercury in what is the final conflict of that war. However, the Cylons reveal their largest weapon yet, the basestar that forces the Cimtar Peace Accords (Battlestar Galactica: Cylon War #4.
