The Commander Air Group (more commonly known as the CAG) is the seniormost pilot aboard a Battlestar and is responsible for all flight operations.
Battlestar Galactica[edit]
The current CAG of the Battlestar Galactica is Captain Kara "Starbuck" Thrace.
She follows Lee "Apollo" Adama, who has been promoted to Commander of Battlestar Pegasus. Apollo assumed the position as CAG following the death of Captain Jackson "Ripper" Spencer. Spencer was killed in the opening minutes of the Cylon Attack on the Twelve Colonies. ("Mini-Series")

Battlestar Pegasus[edit]
The current CAG of the Battlestar Pegasus is Captain Cole "Stinger" Taylor.
For a short time, Kara "Starbuck" Thrace was the CAG on Pegasus when Admiral Cain promoted her from Lieutenant to Captain after witnessing her daring reconnoiter of the Cylon Resurrection Ship. ("Resurrection Ship, Part I")

"CAG" is a US Navy term that has gained widespread recognition through films such as Top Gun and television series such as JAG. While the term CAG is technically obsolete in the modern US Navy as Air Groups are now known as Air Wings, it is still used though, especially on an informal level.
