Bill Meilen (September 16, 1932—September 4, 2006) was a British TV and film actor, writer, producer and director. He portrayed an unnamed Caprica Cleric in the Re-imagined Series episode "Act of Contrition," and has the distinction of being the first male clergymen depicted in the series.
Born in Cardiff, Wales, Meilen served as a merchant marine and served in the British Army in Korea.[1]
Meilen immigrated to Canada in 1969, where he became a professor at the University of Alberta's Drama Department until 1998 where he retired professor emeritus.[1]
Meilen's career featured a wide array of genres and formats, including voice acting in video games (namely the Godfather video games, based loosely on the movie series of the same name). He is known to genre audiences for his work in Doctor Who (Froyn in 1965's "Counter Plot"), his appearances in The Ray Bradbury Theater anthology series, as well as appearances in The Outer Limits, Smallville, and Dead Like Me.
In the years prior to his death, Meilen had been battling cancer, having undergone treatment at Three Bridges and at the Cancer Agency.[1]
At the time of his death, Meilen was survived by his wife, Patricia; his two daughters, Lisa and Myfanwy (mother Rhuanedd); five grandchildren Dean, Jamie, Sophia, Max and Severin. He was also survived by brother John Mudd and sister Ann Chown, and an extended family in Wales.[1]
