The bulk of the Colonial military is lured into a trap by the promise of peace, only to be destroyed along with the homeworlds they were hoping to save. (Saga of a Star World)

The Trap is Sprung

After 1000 yahrens of war, the Humans vied for peace with Lord Baltar acting as diplomat. (see: Cimtar Peace Accord) The peace was to become official at Cimtar, a moon believed to be neutral territory. Instead of peace, the Cylons launched their largest onslaught ever against the Colonials. The Cylons used a two-pronged attack, striking at both the peace delegation (including the Battlestars) as well as the Twelve Colonies.

Elimination of the Battlestars at Cimtar

Battlestars destroyed include the Atlantia, Triton, Pacifica, and Acropolis.

The attack was conducted by fighter groups of Cylon Raiders (numbering a thousand total, along with support tankers) using a variety of tactics, including kamikaze methods. This left the basestars free for the destruction of the Colonies. If it weren't for the actions of the suspicious Commander Adama, the Galactica herself would have been destroyed. The Cylons were thwarted from destroying the entire human presence there. Leaving the survivors and Viper pilots of that battle, the Galactica headed towards the Twelve Colonies in a vain effort to protect their homeworlds.

The Attack on the Colonies

Cylon basestars snuck by Colonial defenses, allowing an undefended attack on the Colonies. The home planets were bombed and the Cylons exterminated all humans that survived, save those who were fortunate enough to escape and flee the Colonies to join the Fleet that Commander Adama assembled.

Casualties

Characters killed at the battle include:

  1. Zac
  2. President Adar
