As a member of the Galactica's command staff, Petty Officer 2nd Class Anastasia Dualla manages the main communications board in CIC, and works closely with Adama, Tigh, and Gaeta in operating and "fighting" the Galactica. Her responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring fleet-wide communications, including all of the Galactica's incoming and out-going communications (Secrets and Lies)
  • Ensuring shipboard communications are properly logged (Secrets and Lies)
  • Relaying communications to all of the Galactica's Vipers and Raptors during off-ship missions
  • Managing CIC operations.

Biography

Dualla's father thought that her enlistment in the fleet was crazy, and he viewed the military as a joke. She signed up anyway because she wanted to believe in something. This rift with her father would continue throughout her service and the last time they spoke they got in a heated argument; two weeks later the Cylons attacked, and Dualla never got a chance to reconcile with him ("Final Cut").

At the time of the Cylon attack she monitored fleet-wide communications and was one of the first to notice the unusually-high levels of shipboard malfunctions and failures aboard other Battlestars (Mini-Series).

Since the Cylon attack, she has been responsible for co-ordinating fleet activities (e.g. FTL jumps). This responsibility led her to identify that the Olympic Carrier failed to jump with the fleet during the period of the initial Cylon pursuit (33).

Due to his attraction to Dualla, presidential aide Billy Keikeya "volunteered" her to join an off-ship mission to the Astral Queen (Bastille Day). Led by Captain Lee Adama, this misson was to try and enlist the help of prisoners being carried aboard the Queen in resupplying the Galactica with water following an act of sabotage (Water). During the mission, the team were taken hostage by prisoners during a jail break lead by fellow Sagittaron and political agitator Tom Zarek.

Freed without personal harm during this siuation, Dualla has gone on to return Billy Keikeya's affections, and they have been known to date during off-duty periods (Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down).

She received a minor concussion when Cylons boarded the ship (Valley of Darkness). Dualla aided in Laura Roslin's escape from Galactica by covering up the tracks of their secret communications coordinating their movements in the fleet, and getting Col. Tigh to sign permission to close off a causeway they could use as an escape route. About this time, Dualla could be seen to "take notice" in Apollo ("Resistance"). Dualla was also tasked with giving D'anna Biers a tour around the ship ("Final Cut"). Apollo also began on a certain level to "notice" Dualla as well later during a sparring exercise. She also aided in constructing the Blackbird by working on its communications system ("Flight of the Phoenix").

Notes

  • Her counterpart in the original series is Rigel.
  • Her first name was finally revealed in the episode, Final Cut. "Anastasia" means "resurrection" in Greek.
