Fix template

Shane, can you pretty please fix the Star and Crew templates please. the Character box seemed to work fine by lightening the name but the others arnt quite right. If you could look into it, that would be great. cheers. --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 07:57, 14 February 2007 (CST)

It takes a while for most of them because of the job queue. The first one of each one is done. You did everything correctly. If you are taking about the "large" text, font-size: larger is what needs to be removed. Shane (T - C - E) 08:02, 14 February 2007 (CST)
Ok ill go though and check a load a bit later. Seems to be ok on first glance now --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 08:15, 14 February 2007 (CST)
I went ahead and forced ran the job queue just because there wasn't much activity. Shane (T - C - E) 08:20, 14 February 2007 (CST)

Episodes Smaller characters have starred in

Reason I Showed the episodes that Leoben had starred in was because i've got about 10 friends that keep asking everybody "what episode did number 3 star in where she did such and such" and etc. So I figured it would be convienent for me to go ahead and list the episodes Leoben had starred in. Is this ok Shane? I mean I think it helps as it dosen't hurt the page. I'll do it for all the guest stars like the cylons too if you want. --Darth Tytis 23:34, 14 February 2007 (CST)

I feel asleep in front of my computer. Pardon for my delay. I suggest a "Table Matrix" then. List of character appearances (RDM). Sorta how our "List of pilots" page work. Character pages, clearly stated in BW:SAC should not carry this information. If you want I can help, but I think it's a great idea. You might want to even suggest a "Last Seen" field for the {{Character Data}} template. Shane (T - C - E) 23:42, 14 February 2007 (CST)

Sounds Great. I'll start working on it tommorow. Thanks! And also, I had posted in the think tank a link to a proposal of mine to creat some sort of rating system to were each fan of the show that comes here can rate there favorite episodes. Does that sound cool? --Darth Tytis 23:47, 14 February 2007 (CST)

Yep. I already posted something on it's talk page. Check it out. :-) Shane (T - C - E) 23:48, 14 February 2007 (CST)

One last thing, I had to tell you but i've gone through the tutorials about editing and stuff and I'm still having trouble creating different sections like you did on the pilots page. If you want you can do them but i'll do the best I can. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Darth Tytis (talk • contribs).

I never worked on the pilots page. I'll get it started, and you can help out. This is always a team effort. Practice makes perfection and if you fail, "try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, again." -- Some Star Trek Episode as we don't care. :-) Always revertible. BW:SAND to test out. fr.battlestarwiki

Saw the note on fr-bsgwiki mainpage; I've been working on translating the English main page for a little bit. [1] I speak French pretty well, so if you need help I'll be more than willing to lend a hand. I'm not sure about promotion, though...and also is there a way we can make the images work on the French side too? Thanks. RasputinAXP 18:03, 21 February 2007 (CST)

Check your french talk page. Shane (T - C - E) 22:30, 21 February 2007 (CST)
There's nothing there! ;) RasputinAXP 00:32, 22 February 2007 (CST)
Yeah there is :D As for images just use them normally as you would here [[Image:Example.jpg]] --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 03:30, 22 February 2007 (CST)

Star data multinational

I was going to ask you to incorporate my nationality2 parameter into {{Star Data}}, but I see you've already deleted and reverted my work. You told me to contact you, so here you are. --Catrope 13:54, 24 February 2007 (CST)

Yeah. Check the Template:Star Data talk page. Shane (T - C - E) 13:59, 24 February 2007 (CST)
The parameter list mentions nationmore, but it's not in the template itself (yet). Also, maybe we should discuss whether we actually want dual nationalities in the first place. --Catrope 14:03, 24 February 2007 (CST)
I just added the documentation. Shane (T - C - E) 14:05, 24 February 2007 (CST)

Interview

I was going to put this up on the main page, but I can't edit it. Interview It's an interview with Mary McDonnell about her character, the season 3 finale, and the Roslin/Adama relationship. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by RMelon (talk • contribs).

You can goto BW:NEWS and update it there. Shane (T - C - E) 23:04, 25 February 2007 (CST)

Seelix

  • As an administrator could you please move the "Seelix" article to "Diana Seelix". -- Troyian 00:01, 26 February 2007 (CST)
No problem. BW:MOVE to get move permissions. Shane (T - C - E) 00:09, 26 February 2007 (CST)

Blog

I know you're trying to fix it and stuff but can you please stop changing the permalink settings on the blog until you actually fix it. Otherwise you break it so that nobody can read or post anything. --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 03:47, 26 February 2007 (CST)

Response to your removal of this question

Has the respect and admiration for Admiral Adama been decreasing ever since his speech in "Unfinished Business"?

I put this down mainly because of his speech in Unfinished Business and In the Day of the Life. The latter episode had in a moment when his late wife told him that he had gotten better at ignoring the hushes and the stares as he walks down the corridors. This seemed totally in contrast to the admiration that was very apparent at the beginning of the series and the loyalty that many of the officers displayed towards him. The new episode Dirty Job seems to reveal that there has been some dissolving of his admiration by the crew. Anyhows, those were my arguements for that question and did not consider it fan wanking. If that question could be considered that, than many other questions after "Unfinished Business" should be removed as they keep on noting how Adama seems to have gone back on his speech. --LifeStar 10:26, 26 February 2007 (CST)

Population comparison in Episode Data template

I saw you messing around in your testing area and noticed your template throws an error when oldpopulation is undefined or empty. I took the liberty to make a fix for this, and I set up a demonstration thingy for FotP through Resurrection Ship II (conveniently, they include all four possible cases: no previous count, increase, decrease and no change). I put it up here. --Catrope 04:58, 1 March 2007 (CST)

I setup a var in the Template:Population compare itself. No need for your fix. Shane (T - C - E) 09:11, 1 March 2007 (CST)

Database Dump

I want to start playing with tag clouds again so is it possible to get hold of a database dump of the Wiki? It doesn't have to be really up to date or anything I'm just finding it difficult to get lots of pages and categories created on my test wiki to simulate how it would look "live". --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 10:34, 1 March 2007 (CST)

Would you like that extra crispy (EN) or fried (DE)? Shane (T - C - E) 11:11, 1 March 2007 (CST)

Template help

Please look at the template hb:Template:Improvedundelete. It's supposed to go on a subpage, and link back to its "parent" page. I'm relying on a user-supplied parameter for that link right now, but do you know how to make an automatic link to the parent page? --Catrope 16:09, 7 March 2007 (CST)

Will take a look at it once I get back from work. Shane (T - C - E) 17:57, 7 March 2007 (CST)

Where should radio interview link go?

I noticed you removed a link I had placed to a radio interview with Sackhoff about Maelstrom, but left no note why you were removing it. Can I ask where links to things like radio interviews and information from them should go?--Bradtem 03:30, 9 March 2007 (CST)

I removed it because it was spoilerific. You can place it in the BW:NEWS and say that there are spoilers. Also you don't need the quote. Shane (T - C - E) 08:27, 9 March 2007 (CST)

Wikisoft*

Is perm blocking a good solution. It seem this user just needs some help on working out how to use mediawiki before we go blocking. I dont think there is a malicious intent going on and we dont really want to kick out the only ppl that could contibute to the other language wikis. --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 06:52, 12 March 2007 (CDT)

Mail Server Issues

Hey, Shane. I can't access my bsg mail. I keep getting an error in mail, that access is denied from port 110. Nothing else had changed in my mail settings. Is there anything I can do from here, or is this a server matter? --Spencerian 10:40, 24 March 2007 (CDT)

The whole pop3 server crashed. I have tried to restore it, not success so far. I wasn't going to worry about it cause of the you-know-maintenance thing we are doing after Season 3 ends cause i'll have to re -do it anyway. I'm on gtalk. Shane (T - C - E) 10:45, 24 March 2007 (CDT)

Production numbers and episode titles

The production numbers listed for each of the third season episode is 100% wrong.

What is listed is a sequence number, not a production number. Here are the production numbers:

39. 3- 1 03001 (T2701) 6 Oct 06 Occupation
40. 3- 2 03002 (T2702) 6 Oct 06 Precipice
41. 3- 3 03003A (T2703A) 13 Oct 06 Exodus, Pt 1
42. 3- 4 03003B (T2703B) 20 Oct 06 Exodus, Pt 2
43. 3- 5 03004 (T2704) 27 Oct 06 Collaborators
44. 3- 6 03005 (T2705) 3 Nov 06 Torn
45. 3- 7 03006 (T2706) 10 Nov 06 A Measure of Salvation
46. 3- 8 03007 (T2707) 17 Nov 06 Hero
47. 3- 9 03008 (T2708) 1 Dec 06 Unfinished Business
48. 3-10 03009 (T2709) 8 Dec 06 The Passage
49. 3-11 03010 (T2710) 15 Dec 06 The Eye of Jupiter
50. 3-12 03011 (T2711) 21 Jan 07 Rapture
51. 3-13 03012 (T2712) 28 Jan 07 Taking a Break from All Your Worries
52. 3-14 03013 (T2713) 11 Feb 07 The Woman King
53. 3-15 03014 (T2714) 18 Feb 07 A Day in the Life
54. 3-16 03015 (T2715) 25 Feb 07 Dirty Hands
55. 3-17 03016 (T2716) 4 Mar 07 Maelstrom
56. 3-18 03017 (T2717) 11 Mar 07 The Son Also Rises
57. 3-19 03018 (T2718) 18 Mar 07 Crossroads, Part 1
58. 3-20 03019 (T2719) 25 Mar 07 Crossroads, Part 2

Until today's episode, I couldn't be sure about the T27nn numbers. Those appear to be a different control number, which might be related to the Comcast versions.

The 301 → 319 numbers are listed as "episode" numbers on the tape slate. The 030nn numbers are the "production" numbers.

The other mistake is related to the episode titles. You are using "I" and "II" for the two-part episodes. The correct titles, for accuracy, are shown above. Those are the titles as given on the master tapes. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Vidiot (talk • contribs).

The writers, especially RDM, generally refer to "Occupation" and "Precipice" as one episode, thus shortening the season to 19 episodes. But pretty much everyone else counts them as two episodes. Whether that split is there or in "Exodus", doesn't really matter IMO. We are also under no obligation to follow supposedly official naming conventions with something as trivial as numbers. Personally I think roman numerals look better. --Serenity 14:03, 25 March 2007 (CDT)
Maybe I am under a very misquided impression, but it is my understanding that Wiki's are supposed to be a source of accurate facts. Incorrect episode numbering and titles does not fit the definition of accurate facts.
As for RDM and the writers considering the first two titles as one episode; that will have to be worked out between them and NBC/Universal, which assigns the official production numbers. As to why Exodus was given a single production number (with A and B suffexes) and Crossroads two unique production numbers is unknown. You'll have to take that up with, yep, NBC/Universal. I can only report as to what I know as the facts, only the facts.
To you, the I and II might look better, but to NBC/Universal and/or RDM and/or the writers, the 1 and 2 was preferred. What gives you, or anyone for that matter, the right to change the title. For example, the book/movie The Color Purple. If this title were listed on a British site, one might be tempted to change the title to The Colour Purple. But that would be effectively changing the title of the book. Yes, it would be the British spelling, but the book/movie isn't British.
I would hope that the owners of this Wiki would also want to provide the facts and only the facts. Vidiot 14:46, 25 March 2007 (CDT)
We aren't changing the title. We are talking about the way a number is written, for Pete's sake! It doesn't make a difference whether we use roman or arabic numerals. The title is still effectively the same. --Serenity 15:39, 25 March 2007 (CDT)
If you insist, we can make Exodus, Pt 1, Exodus, Pt 2, etc. redirect to the appropriate page. As for the production numbers, we can change the text "Production number:" to "Sequence number:", and we'd be fine, wouldn't we? BTW, would you happen to know what the "T27" part means?--Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 15:45, 25 March 2007 (CDT)
We already have "Episode number" at the top of the template. "Sequence number" is kinda redundant then. I didn't realize the main problem earlier, and Vidiot does have a point in this case. But then, I'm for deleting it altogether. Even noting the real production numbers used behind the scenes isn't that useful IMO. --Serenity 15:52, 25 March 2007 (CDT)
