== Description ==
The ''Battle of the Guardian Basestar'' is an engagment between the battlestar ''[[Pegasus]]'' and the [[Guardian basestar]], in which the main goal is to rescue a captured civilian science team.
The Battle of the Guardian Basestar was an engagment between the Battlestar Pegasus and the Guardian Basestar. The Pegasus jumps in and launches an attack drawing off the Basestar's Raiders.  Pegasus fakes losing FTL Drives by shutting them down and takes off at sublight speed drawing the Raiders futher away. A Raptor jumps in with a rescue team carrying a nuke to destroy the Basestar. Unfortunatly two Raiders nearby spot them and the crew fakes an engine malfunction and abandons ship. The Raiders destroy the [[Raptor]] and break off thinking the crew is dead.

The team makes to the Basestar which they got pretty close to on thruster packs and enter through an airlock.  Meanwhile Pegasus is successfully fighting off the Raiders albiet with some damage. The rescue team makes its way to where the captured science team is held and frees them but are attacked by Centurions. One of the team is killed and Major Kendra Shaw is badly wounded.  At the same time the ship jams comunications and not knowing if the team is dead or not Commander Lee Adama orders a nuclear missile to be fired at the Basestar.  [[Admiral Adama]] orders that not to be done and while the two are trying to figure out what to do communications is restored and Starbuck reveals that the nuke's remote detonator is fried.  The only way to set it off is to do it manually.
Meanwhile ''Pegasus'' is succsefully fighting off the Raiders, albeit taking some damage. The rescue team makes its way to where the captured science team is held and frees them but are attacked by [[Cylon Centurion Model 0005|Centurions]]. [[Dasilva]] is wounded and shot by Major [[Kendra Shaw|Shaw]] who thinks she will spare him suffering. Shaw herself is shot in the gut.


Apollo thinks of evacuating the team and then launching the Pegasus' nuclear missle but Admiral Adama points out that the Raiders will destroy anything they shoot at the Basestar. Apollo reluctantly orders the team to have someone stay behind and detonate the nuke.  Pegasus launches a rescue Raptor which jumps close to the Guardian Basestar and lands in a hanger bay.  The team prepare to leave and Starbuck plans to stay but Shaw forces her to leave her behind and has Starbuck join the rest of the team. The Raptor heads back to Pegasus as Shaw makes her way through the ship and comes across the Hybrid's chamber.

He reveals that Starbuck will lead the Fleet to doom and they musn't follow her. Shaw attempts to contact Pegasus and warn them but can't get the entire message through due to the Cylons jamming her again. She detonates the nuke and the Guardian Basestar is destroyed along with Shaw, the First Hybrid and the entire crew of First War Cylons.
