Boraton is a chemical used to extinguish fires, and is a part of Galactica's fire suppression system.
Damage control teams aboard the battlestar fight an ongoing blaze following destructive suicide missions using hand-held units, fed through central pumps aboard the ship.
Apollo, Starbuck, and Sheba fly Vipers modified to fire boraton instead of lasers in an attempt to put out the fire in the landing pod (TOS: "Fire in Space").
Boraton is stored in movable storage containers in Galactica's launch bay (TRS: "Baltar's Escape" and "The Hand of God"), as well as the launch bay aboard Celestra (TRS: "Take the Celestra").
