James Forsyth (born September 8, 1966) is a Canadian extras casting director who worked on the Re-imagined Series, providing extras casting services for the Miniseries and the first two seasons of the series.[external 1][production 1] Born in Victoria, British Columbia, he has established himself as one of Vancouver's leading extras casting professionals, with a career spanning from 1987 to the present.[external 2]

BCF Casting

Forsyth was one of three partners in BCF Casting, a collaborative venture with fellow extras casting directors Andrea Brown and Sandra Couldwell that operated for 11 years until December 2023.[external 4] BCF Casting provided a performer database for background artists and served numerous film and television productions shooting in British Columbia.[external 5] Following BCF Casting's closure, Forsyth continues his work through The Casting Collective and other independent casting ventures.[external 6]

Battlestar Galactica Work

For the Re-imagined Battlestar Galactica, Forsyth served as extras casting director for the Miniseries in 2003.[production 2] He continued in this role for 33 episodes during the series' first two seasons from 2004 to 2006, contributing to the authentic background atmosphere of the Fleet and its diverse population of survivors.[production 1] His work included casting for pivotal episodes such as "Pegasus" and "Black Market."[production 3]
