Ruth Huddleston is a Canadian production sound mixer who served as sound mixer on the 2003 Battlestar Galactica Miniseries. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, she operates R.H. Sound Inc. and has accumulated approximately 49 screen credits across film and television over a career spanning more than three decades.[external 1][external 2]
Career
editHuddleston's earliest documented screen credit is as a cable person on the Neil Jordan film We're No Angels (1989), which filmed in Maple Ridge and Port Moody, British Columbia, with Robert De Niro and Sean Penn.[external 3] She later worked in the sound department on the Canadian feature Here's to Life! (2000), earning a nomination for the Genie Award for Best Achievement in Overall Sound at the 21st Genie Awards, shared with Bill Sheppard and Mark Berger.[external 4]
In December 2003, Huddleston served as sound mixer on the Battlestar Galactica Miniseries, the two-part reimagining directed by Michael Rymer and produced for the Sci Fi Channel. Her credit appears in the Miniseries end titles alongside boom operator Wayne Williams.[external 5] The Miniseries sound team also included supervising sound editor Jack Levy, sound designer Daniel Colman, ADR supervisor Frank John Nolan, dialogue editor Vince Balunas, and re-recording mixers Kevin Burns and Todd Orr.[external 6] When Battlestar Galactica transitioned to regular series production in 2004, the on-set sound mixing role passed to Rick Bal, who served as production mixer through the series' run and received multiple Emmy nominations alongside re-recording mixers Michael Olman and Kenneth Kobett.[external 7]
Following the Miniseries, Huddleston worked as sound mixer for the Vancouver unit of the Marvel adaptation Punisher: War Zone (2008), a Lionsgate production directed by Lexi Alexander.[external 8] That same year, she served as sound mixer on My Inventions (2008), a short drama depicting the life of inventor Nikola Tesla.[external 9] The film earned a Leo Award nomination for Best Overall Sound in a Short Drama at the 10th Annual Leo Awards, shared with Greg Stewart, Angelo Nicoloyannis, and Dorian Pareis.[external 10]
She worked on the CW mystery series Cult (2013, 12 episodes)[external 11] and NBC's time-travel drama Timeless across 14 episodes during its 2016–17 run.[external 12] As production sound mixer, she contributed to 10 episodes of the CW reboot Charmed between 2018 and 2021[external 13] and one episode of Motherland: Fort Salem (2020).[external 14] Her most recent listed credit is the Hallmark TV movie Blind Date Book Club (2024), on which she worked as location sound mixer.[external 15]
