Frank Nolan, also credited as Frank John Nolan or Frank J. Nolan, is an American sound editor and ADR supervisor who worked on the Battlestar Galactica miniseries in 2003.[external 1] His work on the miniseries earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special in 2004, shared with the sound editing team.[external 2]

Battlestar Galactica Miniseries

Nolan served as ADR supervisor (credited as Frank John Nolan) on the Miniseries.[external 3] He was part of a sound editing team that received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special at the 2004 Primetime Emmy Awards.[external 2]

The nominated sound team included supervising sound editor Jack Levy, sound designer Daniel Colman, dialogue editors Frank Nolan and Vince Balunas, sound editor Chris Boyett, sound effects editor Jeff K. Brunello, music editor Jordan Corngold, and foley artists Doug Madick and Michael Lyle.[external 4] The miniseries was nominated for the sound editing work on night 2 of the broadcast.[external 5]

Nolan has extensive credits as a sound editor, ADR supervisor, and dialogue editor across film and television. His career includes over 30 sound department credits spanning multiple genres and formats.[external 6]

In 2003, the same year as the Battlestar Galactica miniseries, Nolan worked on numerous television productions as ADR supervisor, including D.C. Sniper: 23 Days of Fear, Bugs, Encrypt, Deathlands, and Do or Die.[external 7] He also served as dialogue editor on Threshold and Do or Die, and worked as dialogue editor on the PBS miniseries The Blues produced by Martin Scorsese.[external 8]

In 2004, Nolan worked as sound editor on the television series Century City.[external 9] His subsequent work includes serving as dialogue editor on Little Chenier (2006), supervising sound editor on Stryper Live! In Puerto Rico (2007), and both re-recording mixer and sound editor on Child of Giants (2010).[external 10]

Early Film Work

Nolan's earlier credits include sound editing work on Tai Chi Master (1993), a martial arts film,[external 11] and Orgazmo (1997), the comedy film written and directed by Trey Parker.[external 12] On Orgazmo, he worked alongside supervising sound editors Frank Serafine and Jeff Wannberg, and fellow sound editor Daniel Colman, who would later be supervising sound editor on Battlestar Galactica.[external 13]

Beyond sound work, Nolan has also worked in camera and cinematography roles. He has served as director of photography, lighting cameraman, camera operator, and gaffer on various projects.[external 14]
