Let the word go forth that Captain Burch has the official nickname of "Captain Botch." So say we all. What a doofus. Spencerian 11:12, 22 Aug 2005 (EDT)

Catman?[edit]
I seriously think someone misheard a character saying "Captain". And he's not a Captain, he's a Lieutenant that got briefly promoted to Captain to temporarily be CAG. --Ricimer, 19 Sept, 2005
- It's on scifi.com, I swear to god. I know it sounds ridiculous. --April Arcus 15:44, 16 September 2005 (EDT)
Interim?[edit]
Interim suggests that he was a temporary CAG assigned with the purpose of finding a more definite CAG. Adama meant for Birch to be the new CAG. Also, he was replaced by the same CAG from before, which I would say is another reason that the term "interim" could be improved upon. Rocky8311 19:05, October 19, 2005 (EDT)
- Okay. So. Your Manager at work goes on vacation to Italy for a while. Long enough that the Higher Ups don't just gloss over it and make everyone cover for him. They actually promote someone on a temporary basis. What do you call the new guy? I'd call him the Interim Manager or the Temporary Manager. I know you're arguing intent, but--well, I don't know that it's that big of a deal. --Day 16:14, 20 October 2005 (EDT)
- Yeah, but Lee wasn't on vacation. At the time Adama didn't expect him to be coming back. --Redwall 22:59, 20 October 2005 (EDT)
- Yes. As I said, the argument is that intent (on Cmdr. Adama's part) matters. My assertion is that it doesn't, really. The result of various characters' actions was that Birch was the CAG for only a short time: the interim that Cpt. Adama was AWOL. --Day 00:38, 21 October 2005 (EDT)
Rank[edit]
The article needs to decide on his rank; the first sentence and the info box disagree. I'd correct it, but I don't know which is correct. --CalculatinAvatar 22:03, 19 April 2006 (CDT)
- His promotion to captain was a temporary one. --The Merovingian (C - E) 22:30, 19 April 2006 (CDT)
- That was never stated, and we never saw him explicitly demoted (note that Starbuck kept her rank of captain after losing her post as CAG of Pegasus). He should remain "captain" until we learn otherwise. --April Arcus 22:46, 19 April 2006 (CDT)
Image[edit]
I have removed the "Birch oops" image from the page. It seems to me to detract from the overall quality and flow of the article, sticking out like a sore thumb. Unlike the picture on the Alistair Thorne article, this picture really serves no encyclopedic purpose, in my mind. Comments? Thoughts? -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 19:27, 1 October 2006 (CDT)
- I liked it. It helped put his character in context. --April Arcus 19:52, 1 October 2006 (CDT)
- Well, I suppose it might do so. Perhaps I was distracted by the massive amount of whitespace between the paragraph and the succession box, which also detracts from the article, at least in my view. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 20:00, 1 October 2006 (CDT)
- I can't say it bothers me. What width are you browsing at? --April Arcus 20:12, 1 October 2006 (CDT)
- I'm browsing at 1680 x 1050. However, it doesn't bother me so much when I adjust the window size. With that said, I'd still like to get some more feedback on this though. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 20:16, 1 October 2006 (CDT)
- I agree on the format, too, but I did like the photo, too. It added to his doofusness. --Spencerian 17:09, 2 October 2006 (CDT)
