Great Cylon Turkey Shoot Standoff Between Galactica and Pegasus Battle of the Resurrection Ship

A confrontation (though not actual battle) started as a result of draconian command decisions by Admiral Helena Cain and military response by Commander William Adama to determine the freedom of Chief Galen Tyrol and Lieutenant Karl Agathon. It spans the last act of "Pegasus" and the beginning act of "Resurrection Ship, Part I".

The conflict began when Colonel Saul Tigh contacted Commander William Adama, notifying Adama that Admiral Helena Cain had ordered the summary execution of Tyrol and Agathon over the death of Lieutenant Alistair Thorne. Upon hearing this news, and realizing that he had been lied to about a court martial regarding the incident, Adama ordered a Raptor (with Viper escort) to board Peagsus to retrieve the men.

When Adama communicated to Cain his desire to be given Tyrol and Agathon, Cain launched Peagsus' full Viper force and went to to Condition One. Galactica followed suit, launching Vipers led by Lieutenant Kat and Hotdog (Pegasus). As the Vipers approached, each side attempted to goad the other into opening fire first. Kat repeatedly attempted to obtain permission to open fire on the incoming Vipers. During this, each side played a deadly game of "chicken", attempting to force the other to go "weapons-free" and fire. This, under Colonial rules-of-engagement, would allow return fire.

The fraças was interrupted by Kara "Starbuck" Thrace piloting the Blackbird. After then-Lieutenant Lee Adama text messaged Thrace over the wireless aboard a Pegasus Raptor, she began acting in a manner consistant with a hostile Cylon Raider. The ruse succeeded as the DRADIS of both battlestars and their respective Viper squadrons read the Blackbird as a Cylon. The two opposing groups joined forces to engage the "real" enemy -- finding that the Blackbird wasn't a Cylon, much to the relief of Thrace.

A truce ensued after Cain receives recon photos of the Cylon "Resurrection Ship". Both commanders agreed to bring their ships to Condition Two and meet on Colonial One to determine a course of action (Resurrection Ship, Part II).
