The most senior pilot aboard a Battlestar, responsible for all "air" operations.
Battlestar Galactica
- The current CAG of the Battlestar Galactica is unknown, though Lt. Katraine is seen performing some of the CAG functions in Resurrection Ship, Part II.
- The most recent known CAG on Galactica is Captain Lee "Apollo" Adama, who assumed the position following the death of Captain Jackson "Ripper" Spencer. Spencer was killed in the opening minutes of the Cylon Attack on the Twelve Colonies.
- During Lee Adama's brief defection, the role of CAG was temporarily given to Captain George "Catman" Birch. Adama resumed the position upon his return. (Home, Part I)
Battlestar Pegasus
- The Current CAG of the Battlestar Pegasus is Captain Kara "Starbuck" Thrace. Admiral Cain promoted her from Lieutenant to Captain and made her the new Pegasus CAG after witnessing her daring reconnoiter of the Cylon Resurrection Ship. ("Resurrection Ship, Part I)
- Prior to Captain Thrace, the Pegasus CAG was Captain Cole "Stinger" Taylor. (Pegasus)
Note
"CAG" is a US Navy term that has gained widespread recognition through films such as Top Gun and television series such as JAG. The term CAG is technically obsolete in the modern US Navy as Air Groups are now know as Air Wings, it is still used though, especially on an informal level.
